Munawar Faruqui: Delhi police deny comedian license, Mahua Moitra calls cops spineless
Delhi police have refused permission for controversial comedian Munawar Faruqui to perform in the nation’s capital on August 28. affect community harmony in the region.
The VHP Chief in a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora called for the show to be canceled and said that if the show is not canceled then VHP and Bajrang Dal members will hold protests .
The show, which was scheduled to take place at Dr SPM Civic Center, Kedarnath Sahni Auditorium, from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., was canceled after the head of VHP accused the comedian of mocking Hindu gods in his show. In a letter, Gupta also held Faruqui responsible for the recent communal tension that has arisen in Bhagyanagar, Hyderabad.

Munawar Faruqui hosted a comedy show in Hyderabad last Saturday amid tight security when Telangana BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar called for a boycott of the show for mocking Hindu gods.
T Raja Singh, the leader of the Telangana BJP, who is currently suspended, has threatened to burn down the venue if Munawar Faruqui is allowed to perform in Hyderabad ahead of his August 20 concert. Raja Singh and a few other Hyderabad-based BJP members were briefly detained on Friday evening.
A day later, on August 21, Raja Singh uploaded a YouTube video in which he made disparaging remarks about the Prophet Muhammad, sparking protests in Hyderabad.
Amidst this, Trinamool Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra branded the Delhi Police soft for canceling Munawar Faruqui’s show. Invoking Mahatma Gandhi and India’s 75 years of independence, the Lok Sabha MP tweeted, Gandhiji said, “I don’t want my house walled up on all sides and my windows boarded up. Is the community harmony of [email protected] so fragile today that it is disrupted by the comedy show? »
Bengaluru City Police had canceled Faruqui’s show after learning that the event’s organizers had not obtained prior permission to hold it.
