Anglo-Eastern opens new maritime training center site

Anglo-Eastern’s flagship maritime training center in Mumbai recently celebrated the grand opening of its new premises at Leela Business Park in Andheri East. The new training space houses the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Center (AEMTC) Mumbai and associated partner facilities from MAN PrimeServ, WinGD and Wӓrtsilӓ.

After 21 years at its old site, AEMTC Mumbai had outgrown the premises and needed to be refreshed. The move to Leela Business Park, conveniently located on one level above the Anglo-Eastern Crew Division, was a welcome opportunity to plan, rearrange and re-customize the layout and facilities.

At 32,000 square feet, the new training facility is comparable in size but uses space more efficiently to comfortably house a fully modern training environment including:

•an auditorium that can be divided into two or three multi-purpose rooms;
•four laboratories dedicated to automation, instrumentation and high voltage/hydraulics;
•five navigation simulators, including one with a 360-degree field of vision;
•three dedicated partner training centers for MAN PrimeServ, WinGD and Wӓrtsilӓ;
•a full mission engine room simulator and a GMDSS simulator;
•a full-mission liquid cargo simulator, with LNG bunkering simulation;
•dedicated classrooms for ECDIS and JiBe, equipped with 12 terminals each;
•a conference room with remote meeting facilities;
•an on-site library with access to electronic resources; and
•a large modern cafeteria that can accommodate up to 100 people.

Fully operational, with all approvals in place, AEMTC Mumbai has already commenced classroom and simulator training at the new location, while machine shop training is now available at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy in Karjat, proximity.

In his keynote address at the groundbreaking ceremony, Bjorn Hojgaard, Managing Director of Anglo-Eastern, congratulated the AEMTC Mumbai team for creating a new, welcoming and state-of-the-art training facility that speaks of quality and professionalism, and which is proud to wear the Anglo-Eastern brand and design.

Attending the October 11 event were dignitaries from India’s Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) as well as senior Anglo-Eastern representatives, including Chief Operating Officer Carsten Ostenfeldt, among others. other distinguished guests.

Additional DGS Managing Director Kumar Sanjay Bariar led the traditional lamp lighting, while MAN PrimeServ Academies Denmark Director Philip Elberling inaugurated MAN Energy Solution’s latest addition to the facility: the latest ME Mk. 2 two-stroke engine simulator.

Speaking at the event, Mr Bariar praised the state-of-the-art facilities, which he said were up to international standards and among the best he had seen. He commended the faculty for their outstanding work in training seafarers and expressed his gratitude to Anglo-Eastern for the ship’s director’s commitment to training and employing so many Indian seafarers and cadets over the years. .
